My dad used to be a smoker. He at least went outside to smoke (I have asthma), but he still smoked. A few years ago (don't ask me the exact date), he quit. The reason: to save enough money to buy a Fiat Coupe.
The Coupe is an awesome-looking car. The front and rear lights, the chiselled wheel arches, the pert rear end...it's just awesome. And it goes like greased proverbial. So my dad bought one, with the money he would have otherwise have spent on cigarettes.
It was a great car. Racing down the country roads near where I live, in the heat of summer, baking in the rear leather seats, listening to my dad's eclectic music collection...that was just bliss. ^^ I loved that car. So did Dad.
Ultimately, Dad ended up having to sell it. The ultimate irony: he couldn't afford to run it anymore. He later bought a Westfield (basically, a Caterham), but sold that as well, so now it's just my mum's Megane Scenic and my Dad's Mercedes work van. But the Coupe is still one of me and my dad's favourite cars.
Ever since I got GT5 for my birthday, about seven months ago now, I've been checking the Used Car Dealership almost daily to see if it's in there. And it never was. I suppose, considering all my save data got wiped, that's almost a good thing. But then, last night, before I saved up and switched off to go to bed, I decided to make one last check.
And there it was. Right at the top of the list.
A 2000 Fiat Coupe Turbo Plus. In grey, admittedly, but a Coupe nonetheless. Finally.
So I bought it, re-painted it red (the colour ours was, and the only colour it looks good in), and restored the engine and body rigidity to bring it back to its former glory. And now I have it, I'm never ever selling it.
And if GT5 wipes my save data again, I will actually kill something.
